🇮🇳 The ETHIndia Kickoff & First Day
From the moment we touched down in Bengaluru, excitement was in the air. Not only was this one of our biggest events, it felt like a true turning point for our ecosystem. As a developer-focused event, ETHIndia was an exciting opportunity for attendees to showcase their skills and creativity in the web3 ecosystem.
We filled hours of workshops into the first day in order to give hackers exposure to the cutting edge of web3. Talks from David Silverman, Ricardo Arcifa, and Anil Dukkipatty brought in large crowds, spurring intense conversations throughout the halls of the venue on how to build and explore their new ideas. Hackers were hungry for opportunities to grow and quickly flocked to the workshops in order to get their weekends started on the right foot. Later that night, audiences flocked to additional workshops, featuring talented minds like Valist’s Alec Wantoch and Covalent’s Leibing Guo. Check out our YouTube channel to catch up on all the incredible workshops you missed.
Over the course of the next few hours, our hackers got to work bringing their ideas to fruition. Deep conversations started to take shape, as did dozens of inventive projects focused on DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, and everything in between. Hackers who had participated in our pre-event Team Formation Sessions prior to the event quickly grouped up with their new teammates, while others joined us for an in-person Team Formation Session, geared towards helping hackers find new friends and build more confidently during the weekend.
Our tech mentors were always on hand, fielding thousands of questions throughout the weekend on almost any topic imaginable. These tech mentors were instrumental in assisting hackers of all experience levels, and their support allowed teams to take risks and experiment with fundamentally new ideas—taking their projects to new heights.
While a majority of our hackers buried their heads in work, others were given the chance to destress, taking part in our many ETHIndia activities. Participants in our Kite Flying Session got a chance to let their inner child run free, taking the reigns of colorful kites and letting them take to the sky in the warm air. Others participated in Cricket Batting, taking a chance to unwind by enjoying one of India’s favorite sports. Joy and laughter could be heard in the air, and for many, these workshops were a breath of fresh air during an intense weekend.
From that moment forward, our builders had only one thing on their minds—finishing their projects. Conversations in our Discord channels continued late into the afternoon as hackers settled down to build, carrying an optimistic tone. With only a few hours to go until the submission deadline, many of our hackers stayed up late into the night to finish their builds, putting the finishing touches on their ideas.
On Saturday morning, many of our weary hackers needed a boost. Our team served up fresh coffee and snacks that put our early risers on a good path for the rest of the day. As everyone else started to wake up and file in from outside, it was obvious that this day would be different. New energy could be felt through the halls of the venue, and everyone was starting to get excited.
🧨Countdown to Submission
Our Midnight Snack was a delightful treat for the devs after a full day of intense hacking. The extra food proved to be the critical boost of energy that many needed to conquer the final details of their projects, giving them the strength to click submit and breathe a sigh of relief. Many of our hackers stayed long into the night, and a sense of camaraderie could be felt amongst the weary crowd of builders.
👩⚖️🧑⚖️ Main Judging
A wave of nervousness and excitement swept across the venue as the clock finally ticked away to the submission deadline. Our teams had pushed themselves to the limit by experimenting with the bleeding edge of the space in only 36hrs and had advanced our ecosystem through their efforts and dedication. At 9:00 AM, a sigh of relief could be heard, as all of our teams’ hard work had finally paid off. Building successful projects within a weekend is no short task, and each of these 459 teams joined the ranks of thousands of promising primitives that took flight at ETHGlobal hackathons—offering a glimpse of what's to come for our ecosystem.
🏆The ETHIndia Closing Ceremony
By the time our Closing Ceremonies had begun, it was clear that ETHIndia had been a truly unique event. In just 36 hours, hundreds of teams had submitted projects for our judges’ consideration. We selected 12 teams to represent the most promising builds to come out of ETHIndia. These Finalists represent the next generation of web3 primitives, and now that the dust has settled in Bengaluru we’re excited to watch them spread their wings and take their projects to new levels. Check out each of the 12 ETHIndia Finalists below, and be sure to view all 459 projects on our showcase.
🥇 The ETHIndia Finalists
⛑ Web3Rescue
Rescue your Ethereum Tokens and NFT’s from compromised accounts.
The Team: @miteshmetha, @SrivatsanTb
What we liked: Outside of all of the technical issues we grapple with on a daily-basis, our ecosystem faces a UX problem at its core. Web3Rescue seeks to solve that, giving users the ability to “rescue” assets from potentially compromised accounts, something that was previously impossible. This is a huge win for adoption, as it will enable new users to act with confidence when jumping into the ecosystem, no longer fearful of the perennial, “I lost all of my funds when I forgot my password” clickbait articles.
🔗 ChainPe
A non-custodial wallet that lets you pay to any UPI ID via your cryptocurrency balance.
The Team: @msqu4ree
What we liked: We’re suckers for mobile app implementations of new ideas. ChainPe goes the distance, giving users the ability to buy daily needs with crypto by connecting them to UPI, a massive, existing payment network in India.
🚨 Block Alerts
Block Alerts provide a platform to set up alerts in your smart contracts.
The Team: @prajnatwts, @avirajkhare00, @iprincekusingh
What we liked: Block Alerts is huge for smart contract developers. Why, you might ask? Because with Block Alerts, users no longer need to check Etherscan to verify that their transactions have been executed, and can simply receive alerts straight from the source. We’re excited to see where this team will go next!
🎳 Bowled
Live your dream of owning a T20 cricket team!
The Team: @madhukar_01, @tejnaren07, @bowledGG, @KanchanDhanush
What we liked: Bowled was pitched to us in an early Brainstorm Session, and we’re as excited now as we were when we first heard of its offerings. Giving players a chance to own a T20 cricket team, Bowled offers a new take on web3 gaming, with a lot of interesting details underneath the hood. Do yourself a favor and check it out today!
💳 DePay
Scale, Secure, Decentralize
The Team: @AdityaKaklij, @jaybade11, @Ashuuuu02
What we liked: DePay enables B2C businesses to receive decentralized payments from multiple sources, effectively bringing some B2C businesses into the web3 ecosystem for the first time. This is a massive advancement for these types of businesses, and we hope to see more from this project in the future.
🔎 Persona bot-wallet detection
Identify bots to help dapps engage with real web3 users.
The Team: @alagusanjana, @ShubhiKesarwani, @voyager10_01, @ankitav
What we liked: We all know the impact of bots in our ecosystem. Often used to farm airdrops, bots have become an impediment to projects looking to connect with real users. Persona Bot-Wallet Detection aims to simplify this process, flagging bots and allowing users to connect with real users to progress marketing campaigns and airdrops.
⭐️ Sadaiv CI
A continuous integration pipeline that backs up your GitHub contributions on the Decentralized Network without you worrying about it.
The Team: @sheetalojha4, @techtusharojha
What we liked: Github has become the source of truth for many developers and projects looking to assess experience in our space, but Github is centralized. Sadaiv aims to buffer the potential issues of data-loss by continuously backing up a user’s Github contributions to a decentralized network, effectively voiding the potential of data being lost. This is huge as the web3 developer ecosystem continues to grow by the hour.
No more insolvency, a protocol layer to audit and validate reserves against liabilities of Centralised Exchanges.
The Team: @auralshin, @imderl, @AdityaVijaykum4, @lucksomecutt, @prince5254
What we liked: In the wake of the FTX collapse, it is more apparent than ever before that users need a quick, economical way of verifying proof of reserves on CEX’s. Proof of Trust cuts through the noise by providing an efficient solution to this problem, allowing users to quickly audit and validate the reserves and liabilities of Centralized Exchanges, providing safety and rebuilding trust in the process.
🔒 ETHGuard
Responsive ML based Smart Contract Vulnerability Detection for VSCode.
The Team: @StanlyJSamuel
What we liked: ETHGuard takes the guesswork out of code validation, automatically detecting vulnerabilities in Smart Contract code. With ETHGuard, developers can have peace of mind, knowing that the code they build is secure. We’re excited to see how developers will take to this tool, and can’t wait to see what this team builds next.
🔋 ChargeSwap
A Blockchain-based EV-Battery swapping solution.
The Team: @AbhirajMengade, @AsimJawahir, @ashish_bharath, @mittalparth_, @therahulpujari
What we liked: ChargeSwap gives EV-Battery users a new platform for swapping their batteries, complete with decentralized tools to ensure they always receive the most-charged battery with each transaction. As the rise of EVs continues, projects like ChargeSwap will lead the way for users to get the most out of their systems.
🎉 TRIKL
Social Media with Sustainable Engage & Earn Engine.
The Team: @shaluinweb3, @_raushansharma, @triklHQ
What we liked: The future of web3 social media is now. With tools like Trikl, users will flock to the web3 social space like never before, and adoption will be pushed through the roof. Trikl gives creators entirely new tools to build and own their work, and we can’t wait to see what creators do with them!
Customizable on-chain financial controllers on Safes.
The Team: @Dayitva_Goel, @Vatsav_eth
What we liked: SafeGuard makes it easy to add customizable on-chain financial controls to their safes, giving users unprecedented control at their fingertips. Where before, creating safe controls was a difficult, opaque process, users can now create these custom controls with ease.
🤝 ETHIndia Partners
It goes without saying that this event would not have been possible without the incredible team at DevFolio. Their talent and drive since day one have made this event truly special. On top of that, we would like to thank our Partner teams, support staff, tech mentors, judges, volunteers, and the broader Indian web3 community. Each year our team gets the chance to work with the most inspiring people to bring these events to life, and this was no exception. Our mission since day one has been to onboard as many developers as possible to our ecosystem, and we think ETHIndia is a crucial step in that direction.
