FVM Space Warp 2023
For the past three weeks, FVM Space Warp brought together a community of builders from around the world, all focused on the new Ethereum-compatible layer of the Filecoin Virtual Machine. With over one-thousand hackers participating, Space Warp offered a glimpse into the future of the web3 ecosystem. With 275 new projects taking home over $125,000+ in prizes, we think it’s safe to say Space Warp has put this year off to a great start.

🚀 The FVM Space Warp Kickoff
The moment the event began, it became crystal clear that it was going to be unlike any other. FVM Space Warp presented developers with an unparalleled and exclusive chance to construct applications on the cutting-edge Ethereum-compatible layer of the Filecoin Virtual Machine. The FVM, still in its nascent stages of growth, piqued the interest of our hackers, who were eager to gain firsthand knowledge from the teams relentlessly working to drive it forward. Our first day was loaded with content designed to cater to that desire, with talks and panel discussions that offered our attendees front-row seats to the action in the Filecoin space.
The first day offered hackers a comprehensive primer on the FVM with talks from Molly Mackinlay, Raul Kripalani, Zak Ayesh, and JV and Matt Hamilton. Working in conjunction with the Filecoin team, we curated a diverse set of sessions that spanned an entire afternoon, with each talk aiming to provide attendees with exposure to the new technology at their disposal.
Later that afternoon, we brought in a panel discussion featuring early builders on the FVM. Led by Sarah Thiam and Matt Hamilton this panel covered some of the early success stories that had sprung forth from Hack FEVM, as well as other incredible projects helmed by innovative developers.
After completing the first week, the hackers worked with intense focus and enthusiasm to bring their creative ideas to life. Collaborating in our Discord, innovative projects on as storage, voting solutions, and Data DAOs sprung forth from the conversations. It was inspiring to witness their passion and dedication as they worked towards their shared goals. Our Tech Mentors and Filecoin devs supported hundreds of questions over the course of the event, assisting hackers of all experience levels. Their experience enabled teams to get critical feedback on their builds during our Brainstorming and Project Feedback Sessions.
🚀 The FVM Space Warp Finale
The culmination of FVM Space Warp was an electrifying Finale that left everyone on the edge of their seats. Our live stream was a hotbed of excitement as the eagerly-awaited Finalists took to the stage to present their live demos. We were thrilled to have received an incredible 275 project submissions. From among them, we handpicked 12 of the most forward-thinking and well-executed projects to showcase the highlights of Space Warp. These projects not only give us a sneak peek into the future leaders of the ecosystem but also serve as a testament to the unbridled talent and creativity of the ETHGlobal Community. Check out their projects below, and be sure to view our Project Showcase to see all of the other builds that debuted at the event.

🤝 FVM Space Warp Partners
FVM Space Warp would not have been possible without the generous support of the IPFS/Filecoin team, who put in countless hours to support our hackers. In addition, we want to thank the many tech mentors, judges, and support staff that made the event run behind the scenes. Finally, we want to thank our hackers for continuing to push the envelope in our ecosystem, without you Space Warp wouldn’t have been half of the event that it was.
🗓️ Up Next: Scaling Ethereum (March 10–29)
Have fun hacking? Miss out on a great event? Either way, you won’t want to skip Scaling Ethereum—our next online hackathon. Running March 10th-29th, join hundreds of developers worldwide and hack the future of Ethereum’s infrastructure to win over $100k in prizes. Scaling Ethereum has been one of our community’s favorite events since it launched, so it only makes sense to bring it back for 2023.
